5 Easy Makeup Hacks For Girls Who Are Forever On The Go

We are yet to cross paths with a happy morning person. Can you even name these people who, voluntarily, wake up early? We mean, are they for real? If you are anything like us, we are sure your daily routine looks something like this: 10 pm — plan to retire to bed in half an hour so you can get 8 hours of sleep and wake up looking radiant and refreshed; 2 am — scrolling through memes and busy sharing cat videos with BFF, fully aware this is not going to end well; Morning — wake up after hitting the snooze button for the 10th time, only to realise you have just about 15 minutes to look presentable and get out of home.

Late or not, a girl’s got to look smashing. It’s the only thing that’s going to save you from a long day of drudgery (that 9 to 5 deal, we mean). So here are five bonafide hacks that are bound to make you look like a million bucks when you are obnoxiously late.

Use foundation smartly

Going bare face is not all that bad TBH. But going out with blotchy foundation? *shudders* When you don’t have time for a full-face of foundation but can’t do without some coverage, place your foundation only on the centre of your face. Focus on your T-zone (forehead, nose, and cheeks) and blend it outwards with a beauty blender. Chuck the brush because nothing is quicker than a wet beauty blender for flawlessly-blended foundation.

Smoke it out

Let’s be real, girls! Lining your eyes and running late just don’t seem right together. Need a hack to perfectly-lined eyes when you’re in a rush? Go for a smoked-out eyeliner look. Line your eyes as close to the lashline as you can, using a kohl pencil. It doesn’t matter if your liner looks like you’ve scribbled on your eyes while travelling through a pot-holed road. With a cotton bud, smudge out the line that you just drew while focusing on the outer corner of your eyes. Follow it with two coats of mascara and you are done.

Go for a monochrome look

When you’re running out of time, going for a monochrome is your best bet. To achieve this look, use a creamy, matte lipstick if you have dry or normal skin. Or just go for a lip-and-cheek tint, in case you have oily skin. Quickly swipe a little colour on the centre of your lips, and blend it towards the edges to create a soft, diffused effect. Swipe the same hue on your cheeks for a flushed look. Apply some on the centre of your eyelids too, this will help you look healthy and awake. Shades in the pink, red, coral, and lilac family work best for this look.

Highlight one feature

When you’re need-to-be-out-of-the-door-in-15-minutes late, you really must make some quick, crucial decisions. Pick one feature and make that the focus of your face. Choose to do your eyebrows and let your brows do the talking. Or better, just go for a bold lipstick. Period. Nothing spells put-together like a dark and dramatic lipstick.

Bombshell blowout

If you belong to the forever-late brigade, prepping a night in advance always works. Since your morning is going to be a frenzied rush of trying to get ready and look presentable, why not start getting ready in advance? Mist your hair with some styling mousse, put your hair up into a loose top-knot before you sleep, and wake up to full-bodied, voluminous waves in the morning. All you have to do is spritz on some hairspray to hold the volume and waves and you are good to go.
