All The Flattering Lipstick Shades No Matter What Your Skin Tone

All The Flattering Lipstick Shades No Matter What Your Skin Tone

Unless you walk into the cosmetic store with a particular shade in mind, the limitless colour selection available virtually can make buying a lipstick quite the challenge. It’s easy to get lost looking through the huge selection of shades, the various formulations and finishes. Getting the right lip shade is all about determining whether the shade flatters and brightens your complexion, or washes you out. The undertones we Indians have is predominantly olive or warm, while skin tones vary from light to dark. Which is why, WODROB has picked out three shades ranging from a light, a bright, and a dark, for every Indian skin tone. Keep this in mind the next time you browse through that makeup aisle or start an online splurge.

Fair Skin

Luckily for people with fair skin, there’s a wide range of lip colours that suit you. However, going too dark with the lip shade will only overpower the paleness of the complexion. For a light shade stick to a muted soft pink or peach. If you’re into bright shades, a true red or pink will look perfect. Like browns? While some shades of brown show up differently on different undertones, a pinkish brown hue favours just about everyone.

Wheatish Skin

The sole advantage of someone with wheatish skin is that they can carry off any colour from a brown to peach, provided they are warm toned. As long as the colour does not wash you out, you’re good to go. For a light shade, dusty rose and warm-toned peachy nudes are safe colours to try. Want something bright? You’ve got to try a red-orange or a plum. For a dark shade, we recommend a brown red or a mauve-brown.

Dusky Skin

Unlike popular opinion, deep and dusky skin tones can pull off many shades. Why? Because the colours contrast and pop against the tone of your skin. For a light shade of lipstick, a nude brown or taupe is the best. We suggest purple-pink or deep red when you’re trying bright shades and blackberry and burgundy for darker shades.
