If you’re a fan of an easy-breezy vibe and comfortable style statement, the one name among Indian celebrities defining these qualities would be Anushka Sharma. Needless to say, it would be a natural move for Anushka to come up with her own clothing line. And thankfully, the wait is finally over. Donning multiple hats: a model, an actor and producer, Anushka has now joined the likes of Bollywood fashionistas Deepika Padukone, Sonam Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and turned fashion entrepreneur. She launched her accessible label Nush yesterday (in partnership with Suditi Industries), with about 160 plus styles that are “accessible, personal and can be worn no matter what your style is”.
Talking about Nush at the label’s launch, Anushka revealed how she’d been “planning this venture for the past one-and-a-half years.” An excited yet nervous Anushka discussed how versatile and personal these garments really are. This was made to happen because of how involved she was in the design process, “I’ve had a lot of inputs (incorporated while making Nush). Whatever I felt personally… things that I would observe in clothes, little things that make a difference and make clothes comfortable so you can wear them every day.”
Anushka also mentioned that it is an accessible line (it’s ‘a clothing line by her for you’) and is perfect for different people with different styles. “I love getting dressed, styling myself, and looking good… and clothes enable that. At the same time, it should not be a pressure of any kind. Clothes and styling should be easy. I wanted to create designs that would be easy for anyone to style themselves. It’s about making clothes comfortable from every point of view,” she stated.
Nush’s Autumn/Winter 2017 collection is out already, and must we say this is one casual yet uber-chic line. You’ll find relaxed co-ords, floral dresses with necktie detailing, asymmetrical mini dresses, patch-work sweatshirts, jersey tees and bomber jackets, shirtdresses, camo and light-weight jackets, embroidered denims, trench coats, and more. The colour palette for the first collection is extremely fall-ready: mustards, bright yellows, blacks, whites, greys, olive among others, and you’ll find a major use of florals and stripes. Ask her what inspired her and Anushka mentions, “Clothes are a huge part of my life. It is a way to express not just one’s style but also the mood and how we’re feeling. I wanted to create a brand that creates a personal part of people’s life.” By the looks of it and how affordable it is, we’re going to be spoilt for choice. Also, here’s a perfect excuse for a wardrobe upgrade.
Priced from Rs 699 to Rs 3,999, and starting October 12, Nush will be made available at Shoppers Stop, Myntra and Jabong.
