Looks like the awards season is not going to end anytime soon. While we just can’t keep track of who won what (an award for every attendee is norm, right?), what we can keep track of is what the stars wore to the event. Last week, on the 63rd Jio Filmfare Awards 2018 red carpet, we saw some great looks by Indian celebrities. And yesterday, at the Hindustan Time’s Most Stylish Awards 2018, the stars made another appearance — some with great outfits while others who made us go ‘what’. Just so you feel no FOMO, Team WODROB decided to give you a rundown of all the looks at the HT India’s Most Stylish Awards 2018.
Who Wore What
We’ve got to love how effortless Farhan Akhtar’s style is and those voluminous pants he wore get a thumbs up from us. Why can’t more men try such looks given our Indian designers have such amazing and experimental pieces for men!? Deepika Padukone is always such a stunner and she didn’t disappoint this time. But honestly, we’re looking out for some fresh new looks from her (looking at you, Shaleena Nathani). Shahid Kapoor looked perfect in a windowpane suit. Does this man ever get it wrong in the styling department? One major NO-NO was Sonam Kapoor’s look. That outfit looked great on the runway, and that’s that! Nonetheless, we noticed some great looks from Diana Penty, Parineeti Chopra and Vaani Kapoor. Also, a special mention for Saqib Saleem, we like that he worked this offbeat hue on the red carpet.
Best Dressed List
Want to know who ruled the red carpet? We’ve got you all the info.
Farhan Akhtar is seen wearing a kurta and pant set layered with a blazer and it's by one of our favourite designers Rajesh Pratap Singh. More men in voluminous pants, please!
This Sabyasachi sari was one that Deepika Padukone wore to a friend's wedding recently, and here she flaunts it again. A round of applause for her; we love how she's breaking the myth that celebrities don't repeat their outfits. That said, no more sleek hair, please.
Looks like cheery yellow has moved over from 2017 to 2018 as the red carpet colour. Kriti Sanon wore a fringed yellow dress from Deme By Gabrielle. If there's a glitch in that look, it's got to be her hair... it didn't complement her outfit one bit.
Taapsee Pannu has worked some phenomenal looks in the past. Despite the ultra-flared pants by Avaro Figlio, we dig this look. The asymmetric sleeve jacket by Ashish N Soni with leather accents and lacy bralette made for a sleek outfit. That's bold done just right.
Now we love a fashion experiment on the red carpet. But this time, we think Sonam Kapoor took the look a tad too far. Sonam does no justice to that frayed hemmed, oversized sleeved, pointy bust darts couture piece. Also, the jewellery was a mismatch.
We did mention this earlier, but we'll do it again... Diana Penty is sporting some great looks of late. That dress with a feathered bodice and sequinned skirt is one she works well. The metallic pumps as well as makeup and hair was on point.
We like this look by Richa Chaddha in a Chrystelle Atallah gown. The multi-strapped heels were a great option. She could have opted out of her matchy eye shadow though.
Vintage old-world glam that Prachi Desai opted for worked in her favour. That Amit GT dress with pointy-toed heels looked great, and so did her hair and makeup for this look.
Another great look by Parineeti Chopra this week. Here she's wearing a Sadek Majed gown. Though we'd have loved a more stark lip colour than this nude shade, that's a minor glitch for sure.
We like Shilpa Shetty in this cowl-necked, thigh-high slit shimmery gown by Reem Acra. The tousled side-swept hair looked perfect for this evening look.
Vaani Kapoor sported the naked dress trend with this Redemption embroidered evening dress. Centre-parted hair let down and defined eyes added to the glam quotient.
Check out Saqib Saleem; that's what we call experimenting with colour on the red carpet and nailing the look. He's worn an SS Homme suit in mauve with black shoes. LOVE!
Shahid Kapoor wore a Gaurav Gupta windowpane suit and looked dapper. No wonder he also bagged the most stylish couple (with wife Mira Kapoor) for the night.
This head-to-toe neutral look (Shantanu Nikhil outfit) is one that Varun Dhawan works well, medallion brooch et al. Got to say he carries it off perfectly; someone else would make it seem like they were off to a safari.
Now we'll end this with one of the best looks of the night -- Ayushmann Khurrana. We love the classic check Canali suit in blue with that black shirt and black shoes. Also, the powder blue pocket scarf accentuates this look.
