Clutter is not just a sign of untidiness but can also be burdensome. It’s often said that to live a mess-free life, you must begin with a mess-free home. Of all the clutter at home, the one that bothers everyone the most is a messy closet. We at WODROB are all about being your personal closet manager. And while we always give you suggestions and solutions on how to organise your wardrobe, today we’ve brought to you a trick that you can easily put into action. We’re talking about ‘Discardia’. What is that now, did you ask? Discardia is a term coined for a holiday solely for the purpose of decluttering. This letting-go vacation fashioned by the author Dinah Sanders in a book that goes by the same name shows you how to let go and can also be used to earn a spick-and-span closet.
What Is Discardia?
To celebrate Discardia, all you have to is to remove all the things that don’t add value to your life. The core concept of this trick is to continually discard unwanted things and not hold onto them so you can allow positive energy flow in while throwing the negative vibes out the window.
So how does this vacation work? First and foremost, devote some time specifically for this task. The goal of this holiday is to attain a tidy space as well as a sorted life by letting go of all things unnecessary. Get started by determining what clothes you wear all the time and just let them be. After this, create another set of clothes and accessories that you use often but not every single time. Look for stuff that you deem unflattering or unwearable from that particular pile and chuck it right away. Finally, purge out all the barely-used and outdated pieces and toss them away too.
Reverse Hanger Trick
Another trick to put to practice to figure out what you wear the most and what you don’t is the reverse hanger trick devised by the inventor of Discardia. If you’re one to hang clothes in your wardrobe instead of folding them and stacking into piles, then this trick is for you. All you have to do is turn around the hangers in such a way that the hooks point towards you. Everytime time you pick something out, place it back the right way (with the hook facing towards the closet). In a couple of months, you’ll notice that the stuff still facing the wrong way is something you want to toss out and move over. This one is a great closet clearout trick.
