“The eyes can mislead, a smile can lie, but the shoes always tell the truth,” Greg House of the hit drama-series, House MD. So, before you give away your truth it won’t be a bad idea to start with some shoe basics, what say? Our shoe style guide will help you to stand tall in all your glory.

Oxford Flats

These no-nonsense shoes were first seen in Scotland and Ireland. Named after the Oxford University, this style was initially crafted from pure leather and designed for formal wear. These shoes are known for their closed lacing and its smaller than foot cut. Good news is, they haven’t yet been affected by Brexit. For now, they are seen in funky avatars in calf leather, patent leather, suede and canvas.

Sneakers

The term ‘sneakers’ came from the phrase ‘sneak around’. It’s assumed that rubber soles used in making the sneakers did not make any noise on the floor, and hence the term. Today, sneakers are not just known for the comfort they offer during fitness training, but are also seen as a fashion statement. Here are few popular types, which can’t be missed:

  • Yeezy:They are made famous by Kanye West. In the fashion circuit, these are the most hyped, expensive, and sought after shoes.
