While we love everything to do with fashion, what we love more is when fashion becomes a binding force and brings people together for a cause. Our peeps at WODROB visited one such event recently and we can’t wait to tell you all about it. Seasoned designer and Vyoum’s founder, Ritu Seksaria organised a week-long discount sale at her Juhu store from the May 5th. The proceeds from the sale, that ends today, will be used to help children from the Angel Xpress Foundation, an NGO for underprivileged children.
Beenaa Advani, one of the Angel Xpress Foundation’s founders invests most of her time to educate children with no opportunity. “We started Angel Xpress Foundation in 2012 and the concept of this was to teach underprivileged children who go to school but are not getting mentoring at home. We focus on English and math and try enriching their childhood. Ritu is a very old and good friend and she does this sort of charity every year. When she told us she’d like to contribute to Angel Xpress Foundation, we couldn’t be more overjoyed.”
After studying fashion designing in Milan among other reputed college across the globe, Ritu always dreamt of doing something on her own. She launched her namesake fashion line that eventually was a success, and later decided to bring in different designers under the Vyoum banner. Today Vyoum displays garments by over 40 designers. Styled in a blue long dress with an oversized neckpiece, Ritu discussed what fashion meant to her, “My personal style is very comfortable and I love big accessories. Nature inspires me to design and my latest collection has been inspired by nature too.”
As we walked into the brightly-lit store and browsed through the collections, we felt a surge of positivity and an air of personalisation. The happy-go-lucky employees at Vyoum welcomed us. “We have something for everyone here at Vyoum. Because of our bespoke personalisation and our wide variety ranging from apparel to shoes and accessories, our clients keep coming back for more,” said Ritu. The store was filled with eager buyers and children from the Angel Xpress Foundation, who couldn’t wait for Sana Khaan to walk into the store. Oh wait, didn’t we tell you? To lend her help, actress Sana Khaan joined hands with the designer. (Click here to see our live video with Sana Khaan)
We knew Sana had arrived when the buyers stopped to turn and look at the lovely actress. The light-eyed actress interacted with the children and gave style tips while people shopped at Vyoum to help raise funds. She looked ravishing in a Ritu Seksaria red gown.
Ritu expressed her gratitude to both Sana and Beenaa, “Through this event, I am supporting the Angel Xpress cause which is very close to my heart as it enables people like me who want to make a contribution and give back meaningfully.”
