It’s not unusual for big brands to collaborate with musicians in order to make their presence felt. Olivier Rousteing from Balmain partnered with Kanye West for a campaign while A$AP Rocky worked with J.W. Anderson on a capsule collection. Recently, Gwen Stefani was announced as Brand Ambassador for American multinational cosmetics and skincare company Revlon. And now, Tommy Hilfiger has roped in American DJ duo Drew Taggart and Alex Pall a.k.a The Chainsmokers. The duo has been named the Global Ambassadors for Tommy Hilfiger Menswear, including Hilfiger Edition, Tommy Hilfiger Tailored and Tommy Hilfiger sportswear, beginning Fall 2017.
Now we all know that the Grammy award-winning duo has been unstoppable with their music. But their relatability does not only stop there. In fact, their sense of style speaks to millions across the globe. Be it sporting a graphic tee and trainers when at a concert or looking dapper in a camo jacket to a red carpet event, Alex and Drew’s casual yet stylish approach is appealing to the masses. In an exclusive with The Business Of Fashion, Tommy Hilfiger’s Chief Brand Officer Avery Baker said, “They (The Chainsmokers) really represent the young modern guy that is our consumer, and music is one of the best ways to enhance that engagement and that connection today.” Men across the globe eye on trends just as much as women do. Since menswear constitutes 60 percent of this brand’s global business, one can call this as just the right step to take.
For the upcoming season of Fall 2017, Tommy Hilfiger will be showcasing their See Now Buy Now at the London Fashion Week. This will be the first time post-2010 that the show will include their menswear collection. The collection will also include a limited edition co-branded item. Talk about a harmonious union of great music and style, we just can’t wait for this duo to start on Hilfiger’s global campaign.
