The Women Of IPL

The Women Of IPL

IPL  is back with its tenth edition and we are as excited as ever. The high adrenaline filled matches, brilliant anchoring and extra innings are some of the best things to look forward to this summer. Where many believe this to be a ‘man’s game’, IPL has seen women presenters every season. These women of substance have broken the gender stereotypes and bowled fans over with their rich cricket knowledge. While travelling with the team to different parts of the country, they’ve made their mark not only with their fluent cricket-talk but also with their fashion sense and style. Here’s a list of our favourite anchors.

Rochelle Maria Rao

Rochelle Maria Rao, former Femina Miss India International 2012, co-hosted season six of IPL alongside Karishma Kotak. She’s no delicate darling and we’ve all seen her adventurous side as she completed the daring tasks of ‘Fear Factor: Khatron ke Khiladi’ in 2014 and  Life Mein Ek Baar’. She was a contestant on the hit reality series Bigg Boss in 2015.  Her strong and care free attitude is visible on the field and that’s why we love her.

Her style: Rochelle Rao loves to experiment with colours and prints but when it comes to silhouettes, bodycon is her go-to. Rochelle has worn more body con dresses than any other host. With a fabulous and curvaceous figure like hers, why shouldn’t she?

Pallavi Sharda

Australian born and raised, Pallavi Sharda hosted IPL season nine in 2016. She came to Mumbai seven years ago to pursue her career in performing arts by appearing in a cameo in Karan Johar’s ‘My Name is Khan’ and later acted in multiple movies. She was also crowned Miss India Australia in 2010. She is a feminist and makes sure her voice  is heard on field and off by being on the board of advisers for e-Kutir, where she focuses on sanitation and mother and child care. Her enthusiasm and dramatic flair of commentary is something that we miss.

Her style: Pallavi Sharda loves playing around with monochromes. Black and whites, sometimes plain and sometimes printed, her style is very chic and classy.

Archana Vijaya

Archana Vijaya started her career in 2004 after she won ‘Get Gorgeous’ on Chanel [V] which was the first ever modelling show on Indian telly. Archana co-hosted IPL for five years from 2011 to 2015 with Shibani Dandekar. She has also modeled for brands like Sabyasachi, Tarun Tahilani, Rohit Bal to name a few. Her love for traveling and trying new things keeps her on her toes. From paragliding to trying new cuisine, she loves challenging herself. When it came to IPL, this is precisely what caught her interest. Live television has no room for retakes making it all the more challenging and she is back this year too.

Her style: Archana Vijaya’s style encompasses rich colours and flattering silhouettes. Her garments add a touch of luxury to the otherwise sweaty game. Her focus when it comes to styling is to make it elegant no matter what the occasion.

Shibani Dandekar

Shibani Dandekar started out as a television anchor in the United States and later on moved to India. Other than singing and modelling, her passion lies in anchoring shows and hosting events. She has done numerous big-time events on air and off air. Some of them being Coke Studio, After Hours on Zee Cafe, An evening with Shah Rukh Khan on Atlantic City, India’s Sexiest Bachelor, Let’s Design and so on. Her love for anchoring and immense cricket knowledge is what makes her a brilliant IPL host.

Her style: Shibani Dandekar has the accessory game on point. She highlights all her outfits with statement neck pieces. She showed how a right neck piece can alter your outfit.
